Jeanne Hori-Garcia
Educator and Community Volunteer

For the past 40 years, Jeanne has been a dedicated Educator in Early Childhood Education/ Child Development.
She also has been a grant writer, Early Childhood Education consultant, First 5 Monterey County commissioner, and Monterey County Childcare Planning Council member. She is also a highly sought-after professional presenter at local, state, and national conferences.
Jeanne has taught in elementary and middle schools in Mexico, Chile, and in the United States. In these diverse classroom settings, Jeanne has developed curriculum on first and second language acquisition in Spanish/English.
In her Kindergarten and first grade classrooms, she has developed music, math, science, art, early literacy, and movement in English and Spanish.
As an elementary school teacher, Jeanne has primarily worked with English language learners
enrolled in federal/state programs including migrant education, bilingual education, special education, Title III, and School Improvement Program. As an Early Childhood Education instructor, Jeanne has developed curriculum
for Spanish-speaking adults interested in careers as family child care providers, caregivers, and teacher assistants
in centers and programs serving Spanish-speaking families. Hartnell College was one for the first colleges to offer child care training programs with the instruction in Spanish.
